Hammerheads Soccer Club was formed in 2014 through the merger of two well-established organizations: the original Wilmington Hammerheads Soccer Club and the Jacksonville Area Soccer Association (JASA). This strategic partnership brought together two respected soccer communities with a shared commitment to player development, quality coaching, and expanding opportunities for youth athletes across southeastern North Carolina. By combining resources, talent, and leadership, the merger created a unified club with a broader reach and a stronger foundation for long-term success.
Today, Hammerheads Soccer Club proudly serves both Wilmington and Jacksonville, operating as one organization with a shared vision while maintaining deep roots in each community. The club offers programming in both cities—from recreational leagues to elite competitive teams—all guided by a consistent developmental philosophy and high coaching standards. This collaboration allows players from both areas to benefit from increased competition, expanded pathways, and greater exposure.
Bringing Teams Together
At the highest levels of competition, particularly in the older age groups, the player pools from Wilmington and Jacksonville come together to form unified teams that compete against some of the top players and clubs in the country. These combined teams represent the best of both communities and allow the most talented, committed athletes to challenge themselves in national-level environments. Whether it's ECNL, ECNL Regional League, or other top-tier competitions, Hammerheads Soccer Club ensures that its players have the opportunity to perform and develop at the highest level the game has to offer.
The Jacksonville branch remains a vital and growing part of the organization, contributing significantly to the club’s success both on and off the field.
